20 - 25 November 2011, Bergen, Norway
The Convention on the Conservation of Migratory Species of Wild Animals (also known as CMS or Bonn Convention) aims to conserve terrestrial, aquatic and avian migratory species throughout their range. It is an intergovernmental treaty, concluded under the aegis of the United Nations Environment Programme, concerned with the conservation of wildlife and habitats on a global scale.
The Norwegian Government has agreed to be the host country in 2011, with the Norwegian Ministry of Environment as the official host and the Norwegian Directorate for Nature Management as the technical organizer on the Norwegian side. The 17th Meeting of the Scientific Council, the 38th meeting of the Standing Committee and four meetings of regional instruments will be held before and after the COP, including the 2nd Meeting of Parties to the Gorilla Agreement.
For more background we recommend the official CMS-site or the Norwegian Ministry of Environment’s site.
Journalists wishing to attend COP press conferences, press events or the plenary sessions are invited to register at the Scandic Bergen City Hotel.
