Preserving biodiversity when development takes place
Halsøen-Langøra is one of the most important areas for biodiversity in the borough of Stjørdal. It abuts on Trondheimsfjord, is close to the urban centre and includes the former course of the River Stjørdal and the mouth of the River Grå. There are competing land-use interests, and plans exist for commercial development, urban development, improvements for outdoor recreation and road construction. The purpose of this project is to combine concern for biodiversity with other land-use interests through planning and clarification. 

Haymaking areas in the Forradalen valley
Traditional haymaking still takes place in Forradalen. The valley has good pastures and hayfields that are at risk of becoming overgrown. "Færbøgda i lag" is a society formed by local people to help to maintain local interest for keeping the cultural landscape intact and seeing to it that specific management projects on various properties are actually carried out. The borough council actively encourages and supports the effort.
